Chester Christmas Calendar
Christmas Markets: November 16th – December 20th
Although the official opening of the beloved markets was last week, you can enjoy them right up until Wednesday 20th December. They’re open 7 days a week – open from 10am to 6pm Sunday to Wednesday with an 8pm close on a Thursday and 7pm on a Friday and Saturday. There’s an abundance of wooden chalets inhabited by independent traders for all your shopping needs.
Lanterns @ Chester Zoo: November 24th – December 30th
The UK’s favourite zoo doesn’t shut its doors during the Winter period. Their famous Lanterns event is back this year and ready to please families and little ones everywhere! Book your tickets here for the nighttime spectacular.
Winter Afternoon Tea @ Crowne Plaza: November 24th – December 23rd
For almost a month, the Crowne Plaza hotel will be hosting fabulous afternoon tea sessions in their Lounge. It’s £15 per person or £19 for added fizz! Perhaps treat yourself to an hour in the spa afterwards…
Christmas Tree Festival @ Chester Cathedral: November 25th – January 7th
The cloisters of our grand cathedral will be lined with over 40 awe-inspiring Christmas trees. It’s the perfect escape if you want to get away from the crowds and shopping mania over the next couple of months.
Lantern City Centre Parade: November 30th
At 7pm, Chester’s city centre will become alight with enchanting handmade lanterns. Unfortunately, it’s only on for an hour but it’ll be totally worth it! The parade will be starting from the Forum Shopping centre.
The Secret Seven @ Storyhouse: December 1st – 14th January
Everyone’s favourite childhood from the classic author Enid Blyton is finally coming to life! The stage show is running from the start of December to mid-January so you’ve got plenty of chance to catch it. Book your tickets here.
Friday Night Comedy (Christmas Special): December 1st – December 29th
For the festive period, this weekly comedy night at Alexandar’s (Rufus Court) has an incredible line-up! You’ll be no doubt leaving in high spirits. There are plenty of food & drinks offers and seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Santa Dash Fundraiser: December 3rd
It’s the seventh year running that a big crowd of Santas has got together in Chester to raise money for charity. Enter for £16 or cheer on loved ones who will be running – either way, it’s bound to be a laugh!
Food Fiesta @ Grovesnor Shopping Centre: December 4th – December 10th
For six days, the city’s shopping centre will be showcasing all the best food and drink from the region. Get down and don’t miss out this tasty extravaganza!
Christmas Wine Tasting: December 12th
Head to Ring O’ Bells in Christleton for some festive dishes matched excellently with delicious wines. The award-winning kitchen is charging £25 a head for what looks to be a fabulous evening.
Midnight Mass of the Holy Nativity: December 24th
Perhaps the most true-to-Christmas event of all… Midnight Mass. Head to St John the Baptist church for the most traditional Christmas Eve you could wish for. It’s free, of course.
