The housing market has been given the green light from government with all aspects of moving home to resume from 13th May. We are keen to get going ASAP, however ensuring we are COVID-19 secure is our top priority to protect our staff, clients and the general public. Below we have set out some guidance, which has been sent to both sellers and buyers, along with the availability to view through our website. We ask you to please read this carefully.
What the Carman Friend team are doing
- Mask and glove protection.
- Hand sanitiser before and after entering any property.
- Strict procedures whilst inside properties (further information below).
- Safe social distancing at all times.
Sellers of non-vacant properties
- Sellers of non-vacant properties are being asked to conduct their own viewings, rather than one of the team at Carman Friend, to help limit the number of people entering into their property.
- All doors providing access are to be left open, including the back door for access to the garden, garage door etc.
- Before and after a viewing has taken place, sellers are asked to please spray all door handles, banisters, kitchen surfaces with an antibacterial spray, anywhere a potential buyer may have touched by accident. This is merely a backup.
- Ideally only one seller to remain in the house and abide by the social distancing policy. Other family members to wait outside or in the car.
- If sellers have use of a mask, please use it.
Sellers of vacant properties
- The team at Carman Friend will continue to offer the service of accompanied viewings, unless sellers would rather conduct viewings themselves.
- We will arrive with protective equipment to include gloves and a mask, along with using hand sanitiser before and after entering a property.
- We will request buyers follow the below guidance.
Buyers
- We politely ask potential buyers not to touch surfaces within the property – including opening doors, kitchen cupboards and light switches. This should be asked of by the seller or agents at the time.
- Only one potential buyer in a property at one time.
- We request children do not accompany on viewings.
- To protect themselves and us by wearing gloves and a mask.
Valuations
- We will arrive with protective equipment to include gloves and a mask, along with using hand sanitiser before and after entering a property.
- Our team will practice safe social distancing at all times.
- If sellers would prefer not to spend time discussing matters within the property, we can call them following the appointment to chat things through over the phone.
- To protect themselves and us by wearing gloves and a mask.
Measure Ups
- All of the above “Valuations” guidance.
- Paperwork to be done electronically.
- Our team each have their own equipment to restrict cross contamination.
- We will ask only one seller to remain in the house to move any items required for photographs. This is to limit our team from touching anything within the property un-necessarily.
- Doors providing access to be left open.
