The areas of Christleton, Littleton and Waverton have historically been traced back to the Romans with settlement architecture still being found to this day. Littleton is a small village located adjacent north to Christleton and like Christleton, it has been extensively used over the years for farming and in particular for Littleton, the land is filled with marl pits which was used as an agricultural fertiliser and also as a component in the process of brickmaking, which seems to have been practised locally. With approximately 708 people in the last census, this is one of the smaller villages in the area.

Finally, Waverton is the larger of the three settlements (by area covered) on the outskirts of Chester and can historically boast a Domesday mention. The roof of St Peters church in Old Waverton has an inscription dating back to the early 17th Century whilst the farmlands that are located within the area have been used for flour and malt production since the early 16th century.
