Interior Colour Palettes We’re Loving This Autumn

September 6, 2018

Whether you’re a fan of pastel pinks or bold yellows, we think you might find something you like in this season’s interior colour palettes.

As estate agents, we naturally love looking around people’s homes and seeing the various ways that interior design can come to life. Buying and selling houses, of course, is our main focus – especially on our blog. However, we love to delve into style every now and then, too! After all, a house that’s been looked after and carefully considered in the design process has a much higher value and appeal. Here are our top colour palettes for this autumn.

The top 4 interior colour palettes to look out for this season

Orange and yellow

Don’t say goodbye to the sunshine just yet. Orange may be a regular face during the autumnal season but yellow is the new kid on the block. We’ll be seeing a lot of sunshine yellow, rust orange and a combination of the two in the interior design world. And what could better when the sky is so miserable and grey outside?! If you’re brave, invest in larger items like sofas and curtains in bright yellow and orange tones – this will really make a statement. But if you’re feeling unsure about the trend, try adding in smaller accessories like photo frames, cushions and rugs to give your room a brighter accent.

Dusky pink and blue

It’s all about fun combinations this autumn. The rich, jewel-like blue tones contrasted with dusky pink are going to make your bedroom, living room or whatever-room completely on-trend and Instagram-worthy. Bear in mind, too many tones clashing could produce an unsightly result. However, if you stick with two specific shades that work well together, your home will look picture-perfect. Use darker colours for the bigger pieces (the sofa etc) and add in dusty pink as a pretty accent. This one’s not for the faint-hearted but it’ll make you the envy of all your guests.

Black and mixed materials

Not a fan of bright colours? Embrace your inner darkness with the upcoming season’s black trend. Black is one of those colours that will always remain a part of interior design, due to its simplicity and versatility. However, we’re no longer seeing black as a base colour or accent colour – black is taking over. For the fashionistas out there, you’ll be pleased to know that we’re seeing this in cool city lofts and industrial apartments. To set it off? Add in different textures like metallics and woods to really bring the black to life. The easy thing about black is, it goes with absolutely everything. So, no matter how you’ve already done up your home, it’s likely you’ll be able to take on this trend.

Mixed grey tones

Let’s face it, grey is here to stay. When it comes to timeless interior design, tones of grey are the ultimate go-to. Whether you’re into your darker or lighter interior colour palettes, there will be a shade of grey to suit you and your personal taste. Whilst it’s incredibly cosy, grey is also an elegant colour. If you choose to decorate your home in grey next time you fancy a DIY project, you’ll be spoilt for choice at which room to go for. The bathroom, the bedroom, the kitchen, the living room – grey will look good anywhere and everywhere. However, we do recommend throwing a few accent colours in here and there to liven things up a bit. Try navy, yellow, pink or lime green for a fun injection of colour alongside the grey.
